Light Industry and chemical engineering
Light Chemical Engineering is a kind of Engineering technology that using chemicals as raw materials to prepare daily, personal products and industrial additives. Compared with traditional chemical engineering, light chemical industry locates at the higher end of industrial chain and has the characteristic of free of pollution, lower energy consumption and producing higher value-added products. So even in the current era of fear of chemistry, it has been the pillar industry of developed area such as Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Beijing Tianjing Shandong, and also the urban industry which can meet people’s lives and improve the quality of people’s lives. Major of Light Chemical Engineering is built to meet the development of this kind of urban industry and demands of society to advanced light chemical engineering talents.
Relying on the advantage of Jiangsu Dominant Discipline and platform of Jiangsu Key Laboratory, also the advantage of Chemical Engineering of Changzhou University, Light Chemical Engineering aims to cultivate advanced engineering technical and management talents who have solid basic knowledge about chemistry and chemical industry, master professional knowledge about daily chemicals and additives, and can work in the field of industrial production, process design, scientific research, technology management and development of new products. Graduates of Light Chemical Engineering can not only work for three top petroleum company as scientific researcher or manager, but also for government departments such as environmental protection administration, customs, quality inspection departments as quality inspector; not only for word famous international daily chemicals company such as P&G, Unilever, SGS, L’Oreal, but also for famous private enterprise such as Nice, Yabang, Transfar, Feixiang and Jianghai.
The core of the program consists of a series of courses in physical sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, mathematics, transport phenomena, kinetics, separations, thermodynamics, reaction engineering, process engineering, and engineering economics. The program trains students to be competent engineers, through offering a variety of challenging courses and problem-solving sessions, providing state-of-the-art laboratories, and helping students gain design and teamwork experiences through conducting senior design projects of participating in research projects.
Program Aims:
The program is designed not only to disseminate theoretical and latest knowledge of the discipline, but also to equip students with requisite research methodology and ability to explore the unknown. The program prepares students for future careers in the fields of chemical processing, management, marketing, scientific research and product development. The graduates will also be qualified to be engaged in scientific research, product & process design, and teaching in research institutes and institutions of higher learning.
Program Features:
Drawing on the sophisticated teaching and research facilities as well as rich experience of the professors with extraordinary research power, the program puts much premium on the cultivation of students' innovative and analytical thinking and ability, encouraging students to participate in research project with a view to acquiring hands-on experience under the guidance of professors.
